Anything we can reasonably do with indoor aquaponic tomatoes: light, temperature, feeding, varieties, timing, sensors. Tell us your idea and we say honestly whether our setup can do it.

Only you. It is a private information service: your experiment's data and results are yours. If you prefer, we can publish them openly with credit to you, but only if you choose that.

Is this an established service?

No. It is new, and you could be among the first to use it. We build each experiment with you and are open about what our setup can and cannot do yet.

How it works

Email us your idea.
We tell you honestly whether our setup can do it, and agree what it covers and what it costs.
We send you a payment link and an invoice.
We set up your experiment by hand.
You watch it live and get the data while it runs, privately, unless you choose to publish it.

To be open with you

This is a brand-new service, and you could be among the first to use it. Right now the lab grows tomatoes indoors with aquaponics (fish feed the plants, the plants clean the water); other crops come later. We build each experiment with you and say plainly what our setup can and can't do yet.

Support the lab

Not ready to run an experiment? You can still help. Gifts pay for the lab's own growing experiments (heating, seeds, sensors), and David publishes what works so anyone can learn to grow their own food.

Send a gift (card, via Stripe)

You choose the amount. It is a gift: nothing is sold and nothing is owed back. We are not a registered charity, so gifts are not tax-deductible. The receipt goes to the email you enter; every gift is set aside for 120 days, so it can be returned if it was made by mistake.
